What is a CDD?
In Florida, a Community Development Districit (CDD) is a special-purpose local government created as an alternative approach to planning, financing, acquiring, operating, and maintaining infrastructure in planned communities. CDDs aim to meet Florida's need for high-quality community infrastructure to support a growing population without placing an excessive burden on other local governments and taxpayers. By establishing higher construction standards, CDDs offer a long-term solution for the operation and maintenance of community facilities. They are regulated under Chapter 190 of the Florida Statues.
